Shrimp on their own are great, but when you add bacon to the mix you get an amazingly delicious appetizer that will be the hit of any party. Plus, it’s ready in less than 30 minutes to make your life a little easier!

The shrimp is tossed in a sticky glaze, made with soy sauce maple syrup, and chili powder. I love it because it’s the perfect combination of savory and sweet! This bacon wrapped shrimp is beyond easy to make, but is such an impressive appetizer. Trust me, it’s going to fly off the dinner table! For all of you shrimp lovers out there, another great recipe to try is this garlic shrimp, inspired by the food trucks of Hawaii!

    All Ingredients Needed

This is one of my favorite appetizers to make because it uses such simple ingredients. The shrimp marinade whips up with just a handful of pantry staples! Although the ingredient list is simple, you’re going to be amazed at the incredible flavor packed in each bite! See the recipe card below for exact measurements.

    • Shrimp: I used extra large shrimp!
    • Bacon: To make sure your bacon is nice and crispy, you can either cook your bacon beforehand or use precooked bacon for easy prep!
    • Maple Syrup: Creates the perfect texture for the glaze. I also love it because it adds the perfect sweetness.
    • Soy Sauce: I love using soy sauce for marinades. It makes meat nice and tender and adds the best savory flavor.
    • Chili Powder: I love the touch of spice that chili powder adds to the shrimp. You can omit this if you want the glaze to be on the sweeter side!
    • Salt and Pepper: Season to taste.
    • Chopped Parsley: I love using fresh chopped parsley on top for garnish. Not only does it look pretty, but it adds extra flavor as well.
    • Cooking Spray: To keep the shrimp from sticking to the pan.

How to Make Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

The shrimp get tossed in a super easy maple and soy sauce marinade while the bacon is par cooking in the oven. You can marinate the shrimp for anywhere from 10 minutes to 8 hours for more flavor! Bacon wrapped shrimp is a classic appetizer. You’ll want to come back to it again and again!

Precooking the Bacon, Preparing the Marinade:
    1. Preheat Oven, Prep Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with foil and coat with cooking spray.
    2. Partially Bake the Bacon: Lay the slices of bacon out in a single layer on the pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until bacon is partially cooked.
    3. Cool for 5 minutes, then cut each slice of bacon in half crosswise.
    4. Whisk Marinade Ingredients Together: While the bacon is cooking, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, chili powder, and salt and pepper to taste in a medium bowl.
    5. Reserve: Remove 2 tablespoons of the marinade and reserve for later use.
    6. Toss Shrimp in Glaze: Place the shrimp in the bowl and toss to coat in the marinade. Cover the bowl and chill; marinate for at least 10 minutes or up to 8 hours.
    Broiling the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp:
    1. Preheat Broiler: Preheat the broiler. Coat a sheet pan with cooking spray.
    2. Wrap With Bacon: Wrap one piece of bacon around each shrimp and secure with a toothpick.
    3. Broil: Place the shrimp in the oven and broil for 5 minutes, or until shrimp is pink and bacon is crispy.
    4. Flip, Continue to Cook: Flip the shrimp and broil for 1-2 minutes more on the other side.
    5. Brush With Extra Marinade: Remove from oven and brush with reserved marinade. Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately.

    Tips and Tricks

There are a couple of things to consider when making the perfect bacon wrapped shrimp. First off is the size of the shrimp. The other consideration is the bacon itself.

    • Shrimp Size: You want to go with the largest shrimp you can afford for this recipe, these shrimp were 12 to a pound, 20 to a pound would also work fine. If you use a small sized shrimp, you run the risk of the shrimp getting overcooked before the bacon is crispy.
    • Cooking the Bacon Beforehand: I always par-cook my bacon before I wrap it around the shrimp. This way, I’m sure to end up with crispy bacon and tender shrimp that cook at the same rate. I also always use thin-cut bacon for this recipe to ensure that it’ll crisp up quickly.
    • Serving Suggestions: I serve bacon wrapped shrimp either as an appetizer or as a main course over rice. Regardless of how you serve them, these shrimp are bound to get rave reviews!

    Storing Leftover Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

I recommend serving this tasty appetizer as soon as possible. They taste the best when they’re fresh out of the oven! If you do happen to have some leftover, here’s how to store them for later.

    • In the Refrigerator: Store leftover bacon wrapped shrimp in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
    • To Reheat: Pop your shrimp in the microwave, oven, or broiler for a few minutes or until warmed through.

Lumpia is referred to as the Filipino spring roll. Filled with ground pork and vegetables, this delicious appetizer is a favorite in the Philippines! They are light in texture and great for dipping! Lumpia is a perfectly crispy fried roll that is irresistible at any meal or celebration.

The best part about these darling little rolls is that they are perfect for dipping! I love to serve them with several different dipping sauces for my guests to enjoy. Lumpia is traditionally served with a side of dipping sauce. I love to serve it with my sweet chili sauce because it’s the best! But you can also make my homemade sweet and sour sauce or teriyaki sauce. Or even better, serve a side of all three!

    Filipino Spring Roll Ingredients

The lumpia filling is made with fresh ingredients and loaded with authentic Filipino flavors. The filling is most commonly pork-based but can consist of a variety of savory meat, poultry, or seafood. Prepare the filling, assemble the rolls, then fry to crispy perfection! Everyone will enjoy these appetizers and ask for them again and again.

    • Sesame Oil: Any oil works, but sesame oil gives it a great Asian flavor.
    • Garlic: Fresh garlic always.
    • Fresh Ginger: Fresh ginger adds great flavor.
    • Ground Pork: Ground pork is the most common, but any type of meat works.
    • Green Onion: I love that green onion isn’t too strong.
    • Carrots: I like to mince the carrots really small.
    • Green Cabbage: Cabbage adds great texture and crunch.
    • Onion Powder: For added onion flavor!
    • Salt: Salt to taste and balance flavors
    • Ground Black Pepper: Pepper for seasoning.
    • Soy Sauce: Adds flavor and moisture.
    • Wrappers: Lumpia wrappers are thin and traditional, but if you can’t find them you can use egg roll or spring roll wrappers.
    • Oil: Oil for frying.
    • Water: A small bowl of water to help seal the edges of the lumpia wrapper.

    Lumpia Recipe

Lumpia recipes are passed down from generations! It’s fun to hear what cute Filipino Grandma’s have added to their recipe. Add seasonings and veggies of your choice. The filling is so easy to make, and assembly can be fast if you have your kids to help! Check out the pictures for step-by-step instructions. It’s actually super easy.

    Lumpia Filling

    1. Heat the Oil in the Pan: Heat the oil in a medium pan over medium-high heat.

    3. Cook the Pork: Add the ground pork and cook for about 6 minutes, or until cooked through.

    Rolling and Frying Lumpia

    1. Cut the Wrappers if Needed: If using egg roll wrappers, cut them down to a rectangular size to help achieve a thinner roll.
    2. Add the Filling to the Wrapper: Scoop around 1 to 1 ½ tablespoons of filling then place near the bottom half of the lumpia wrapper. Spread the filling out to make rolling easier.
    3. Roll up Lumpia: Starting from the bottom, roll-up tight until completely wrapped.
    4. Seal the Wrapper with Water: Dip your finger in a bowl of water and run it along the edge of the wrapper. Then seal lightly press to seal the edge.
    5. Heat the Oil for Frying: Heat oil in a large skillet deep enough for frying. Deep fry lumpia on medium heat until it floats.
    6. Enjoy Warm With Dipping Sauce: Remove from the oil on a plate with paper towels. This will help absorb any excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce!

    Tips For Frying

Frying Lumpia is simple and fast! Follow my tips below to help you along the way. Lumpia is light and crispy and fried to perfection! I can’t wait for you to make them. You’re going to love them!

    • The Right Temperature: Make sure the temperature of the oil is 350 degrees Fahrenheit for frying. If the temperature is less than 350 degrees Fahrenheit, the wrappers will absorb the oil too much. Then the lumpia will be too greasy. When the oil is too hot, the wrappers will too fast. Then the filling won’t have enough time to warm through.
    • Use Paper Towels: Lay the fried lumpia on paper towels to cool. Paper towels absorb any excess oil and will help the rolls stay crispy.

Top view of lumpia on a gray plate with a side of dipping sauce. Chopped green onion on top for garnish.

    Lumpia Wrappers

Authentic lumpia is a Filipino spring roll fried in a lumpia wrapper. The wrappers are paper thin and smooth and is similar to a crepe. When fried in hot oil, the texture of the wrapper is crispy and flakey. Each bite is light and crunchy and full of flavor! Traditional lumpia is made with actual lumpia wrappers. If you can’t find them, then that’s ok! I wasn’t able to find mine locally, so here are some alternatives.

    • Wonton Wrappers: Wonton wrappers are thin in texture.
    • Spring Roll Wrappers: Rice paper wrappers that are thin and translucent.
    • Egg Roll Wrappers: Most common wrappers available at grocery stores.

    Storing Leftovers

This lumpia recipe makes a lot, so here are instructions for storing. I also have instructions for freezing leftovers for months at a time. My tip for reheating cooked lumpia is to do it in the air fryer! It restores the crispiness and is delicious to enjoy all week.

    • In the Refrigerator: Once lumpia has cooled, then transfer the leftovers to an airtight container. Store the leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
    • In the Freezer: Lumpia is best stored in the freezer before frying. Arrange the rolls on a baking sheet, then cover with foil wrap. Freeze the lumpia for a few hours. When the rolls are frozen solid, transfer the them to a zip-top freezer bag. Lumpia can be frozen for up to 3 months.
    • To Reheat: Reheat cooked rolls in the air fryer at 360 degrees Fahrenheit for 4 minutes.
    • Fry Frozen Lumpia: There’s no need to thaw frozen lumpia. Simply fry the rolls right from the freezer.

    • Add Different Nuts: If you’re not a fan of pecans, swap them out for other nuts. You can also omit them entirely. Walnuts or almonds are always a great choice! I also love making this recipe with cinnamon sugar candied almonds.
    • Adding Brown Sugar: If you don’t love marshmallows, use brown sugar instead. It caramelizes perfectly, leaving the potato glazed and golden. The sweetness of these bites reminds me of a sweet potato pie!
    • Change Up the Spices: Add a pinch of pumpkin pie spice to the butter mixture. It gives it a flavor fit for fall.
    • Add Some Bacon: Bacon is the best addition to an appetizer! Salty bacon pieces would be delicious on the sweet bites. Place a small piece of cooked bacon under the marshmallow before broiling. Or sprinkle cooked bacon pieces on top of the melted marshmallows.

    Tips and Variations

Bacon-wrapped dates are simple but are bursting with so much flavor! They are great just the way they are, but there are many different ways to customize this recipe. Follow my tips and variation ideas to help you make the best of this crowd-pleasing appetizer.

    • Avoid Large Dates: Smaller dates are best for this appetizer. The smaller ones are the perfect size and sweetness ratio for the bacon. Trust me on this one!
    • Wrapping Tips: Make sure to cut your bacon so you aren’t wrapping it more than twice around the date. My bacon pieces wrap around the dates 1.5 times. If the bacon is too thick, it won’t cook all the way through or crisp up.
    • Add in Cheese: Creamy cheese tucked inside the date is incredible! Try stuffing the date using cream cheese, blue cheese, or goat cheese. Simply cut a slit halfway through the date, but not all the way through. Stuff the date with any cheese you would like, wrap it tightly with bacon, and follow the remaining instructions on the recipe card.
    • Use Pancetta or Proscutitto: Try replacing the bacon with prosciutto or pancetta. Remember that the thinner the wrapping, the faster the cooking time will be.
    • Add in Nuts: Bacon-wrapped stuffed dates are delicious with cheese but you should try nuts! It is common to see nuts stuffed inside the dates. Add a whole almond or a pecan half for a bit of added crunch.

    Storing Leftover Dates

These bacon-wrapped dates are simple and easy to make ahead of time! I love that I can prepare this appetizer the day before and bake it right before the guests arrive! Follow these steps for storing and making ahead of time!

    • In the Refrigerator: Store leftover bacon-wrapped dates in the refrigerator and reheat for later use. Store in an airtight container.
    • In the Freezer: Bacon-wrapped dates can be made ahead and either refrigerated overnight or frozen. Freeze on a baking sheet and transfer to a freezer storage bag for up to 1 month.
    • To Reheat: Place chilled dates on a sheet pan, then bake at 350° Farenheit for 6-8 minutes. Bake until the dates are warmed through and the bacon is crisp on the outside.

Vegetables Needed For a Veggie Board

All the different colors, shapes, and textures of the vegetables make this charcuterie board stand out. It looks so unique! I prefer bringing this board to a party over a store-bought veggie platter because everyone is always impressed.

    Dips Ideas

    • Hummus: Make my homemade hummus or use store-bought! For a little extra flavor, sprinkle some bagel seasoning on top.
    • Beet Hummus: Beet hummus is so unique! I love it because it adds vibrant color to the veggie board.
    • Veggie Dip: Make this dip or my homemade ranch dressing to dip your veggies into.

    Veggie Ideas

    • Mini Sweet Peppers: I love choosing all the colors to add to the board.
    • Sugar Snap Peas: Slice open a few peas to display because it is SO CUTE!
    • Radishes: It’s fun to cut radishes into shapes.
    • Cherry Tomatoes: These are great to fill in empty spots on the veggie charcuterie board.
    • Celery: Crispy and crunchy celery sticks are perfect for dipping.
    • Broccoli: Broccoli florets have the best texture for making a charcuterie board stand out.
    • Cucumber: Cut the cucumber into slices for dipping. I like to use English cucumbers because they have fewer seeds in them.
    • Cauliflower: The pop of white on the board helps balance all the colors.
    • Rainbow Baby Carrots: Rainbow carrots are great because they have a beautiful organic color that makes the board pop.
    • Whole Bell Pepper: Stem removed and deseeded for the dip!

How to Make a Veggie Charcuterie Board

There is no wrong way to make a veggie charcuterie board, so be as creative as you would like! Feel free to follow the placement of my vegetables or do your own arranging. I love charcuterie boards because you can’t mess them up! Bring this board to your next party then get ready to wow everyone there! You got this!

    1. Wash and Prepare the Veggies: Wash, dry, and then cut the vegetables.
    2. Cut the Pepper For the Dip: Cut the top off the bell pepper and deseed the inside. Then fill your prepared dip inside the cavity of the bell pepper, then place it onto the board.
    3. Place Hummus on the Board: Fill the hummus into small bowls and space them out onto your board.
    4. Arrange the Vegetables: Place the vegetables around the dips and then fill in any holes with cherry tomatoes.

    Variations and Add-Ins

Since this is a veggie charcuterie board, it’s nice to keep it vegetarian-friendly. You can get creative with your dip flavors. You can also add bread or other items if you like, but keep it healthy and nutritious. I also like to pick additional items that go well with the veggies like olives.

    • More Dip Ideas: Try adding my black bean hummus or green goddess dressing for dipping.
    • Add Cheese: Cheese is delicious with veggies! Use bite-sized pieces for easy pickup.
    • Add Nuts: Nuts like pistachios or walnuts scattered around the veggies would be delicious! Nuts are full of healthy fats and are very nutritious.
    • Add Bread or Crackers: Slices of bread, a toasted baguette, or crackers would also be yummy!
    • Olives: Olives are considered a fruit, but the salty and savory flavor would be delicious on this veggie board. Use either green or black olives!

    No Wood Board? No Problem!

You don’t have to have an expensive wood charcuterie board to achieve this veggie board. The display of veggies will speak for itself, so it doesn’t matter what is under it all. Be creative and use whatever you have on hand! Here is a list of ideas for you to create the best veggie charcuterie board.

    • Baking Sheet: Rectangle shapes work too! Just grab a cookie baking sheet and start arranging your veggies.
    • Pizza Pan: The round shape does the job! A pizza pan is perfect.
    • Large Platter: You most likely have a large platter in your cupboard. A large platter for serving your turkey perhaps?
    • Large Cutting Board: A large cutting board works too! With any luck, it’s already wood.
    • Butcher Paper on the Counter: Slap some brown butcher paper on your kitchen counter then make it look beautiful with your veggies! No one will care at all.

    Storing Veggies

This veggie charcuterie board is easy to prep 1-2 days before your event. Most veggies can be sliced, covered, and stored separately in the fridge up to 24 hours in advance.  Be sure to cover them really well to keep the veggies as fresh as possible. I like to spritz the veggies with a water bottle before serving to bring the freshness back!

    • In the Refrigerator: If you have any leftover veggies and dips, cover them tightly with plastic wrap and store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. You can make the dip a couple of days in advance and store it in an airtight container in the fridge.

Bruschetta is originally from Italy and is a variation of tomatoes, vegetables, beans, cured meat, and cheese. It is mixed together, then rubbed the bread with garlic and brushed over the top of the bread. This bruschetta is one of my favorites during the year. It is light and filling at the same time. Every bite is zesty and flavorful! Add a drizzle of balsamic glaze over the top and you have one amazing appetizer!

The warm crispy, crunchy bread melts in the shredded mozzarella overtop the tomato mixture. Together this makes the perfect combination! Use up all your fresh tomatoes with this tried and true favorite. This appetizer is perfect for any occasion and great to use as an appetizer, party snack or light lunch. Because it is so light and tasty, everyone will want more!

    Bruschetta Ingredients

This recipe uses simple ingredients to make a sweet and savory appetizer. Try it out over some delicious bread and then you won’t be able to stop! Check out the bottom of the post for all of the exact ingredient measurements.

    • Baguette: Slice the bread into thin, even slices.
    • Olive Oil: Brush the oil over the top of each slice of bread.
    • Roma Tomatoes: Freshly diced ripe tomatoes.
    • Mozzarella Cheese: Shredded cheese lays smoothly over the top of the tomato mixture and softens with the warm bread.
    • Balsamic Vinaigrette: This is a very dark concentrate that is rich in flavor.
    • Olive Oil: The olive oil adds a rich flavor to the tomato mixture
    • Garlic Cloves: It is best fresh and minced. If you don’t have any fresh garlic cloves then you can use minced garlic from a jar. 1 garlic clove equals about ½ teaspoon of minced garlic.
    • Basil: Fresh basil is thrown in for color and flavor!
    • Salt and Pepper: These will enhance all of the flavors in the bruschetta.
    • Balsamic Glaze: Drizzle overtop the tomato mixture for a garnish and glaze.

How to Create the Perfect Bruschetta

This recipe is simple to make yet it packs a punch in looks and flavor. Your friends and family will ask you for the recipe because it’s so delicious!

    1. Prepare Bread: Slice a baguette and line it on a baking sheet. Then, brush the top with olive oil and broil it 2-3 minutes until brown. When it’s brown then you can remove from the oven.
    2. Mix Together: In a medium-sized bowl combine the tomatoes, mozzarella, balsamic, olive oil, garlic, basil and salt and pepper.
    3. Top the Bread: Add the mixture to the top of the bread and then drizzle it with balsamic glaze.

    Tips and Variations

There are a few things that you can do to make sure that your bruschetta turns out perfectly! Here are a few tips to help you out.

    • Fresh: It is best to try using the freshest ingredients for the tomato mixture. Since fresh produce doesn’t last long then purchase it a day or so before to plan on making this appetizer.
    • Toasting Bread: Move your oven rack a few inches below the top of the oven. Then, broil the bread for a few minutes.
    • Cheese: Store-bought pre-shredded cheese has an extra coat of flour overtop, which is hard to blend together. I like to purchase a block of cheese and then shred it myself.
    • Add In: Try adding in nuts or sunflower seeds to add in a delicious taste and texture!

Bruschetta toast on a white countertop garnished with cilantro.

What Kind of Bread Should I Serve With It?

Several slices of bread are best for bruschetta. A classic one is always the baguette. It is crunchy outside a soft and sweet inside. I also love using French bread or crostini. Even crackers or chips taste delicious with this classic and traditional bruschetta.

How Long Does Fresh Bruschetta Keep?

    • Making Ahead: It is best to serve this right away but knowing to have it ready ahead of time will also work. Bruschetta can keep in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 2 to 3 days. Stir it up when you are ready to eat it, and then top it on the toasted bread.
    • Leftovers: If you have any leftover bruschetta, then try adding it on top of baked or grilled chicken!

  • Ciabatta Bread

    Ciabatta Bread

Make this classic Italian ciabatta bread recipe at home with just four simple ingredients! Crusty on the outside and perfectly chewy on the inside, this bread is delicious for sandwiches, served with soup, or simply toasted.

I love making homemade bread, and I have recently discovered how easy it is to make ciabatta bread! It’s so versatile because I can serve it with so many different recipes. Ciabatta is incredible with beef stew, and spaghetti, or enjoy it with this olive oil dip.

Side view of baked and slice ciabatta bread on a wood cutting board. A blue kitchen towel is next to the wood board.

    What Is Ciabatta Bread?

This white Italian bread has a crispy outer crust with an airy texture on the inside. The wet dough helps produce the irregular holes that form on the inside as it bakes. I love the unique characteristics of this beautiful bread, but I also love the delicious flavor!

Ciabatta has an incredibly chewy and sturdy texture. That is why it is perfect for dips and sauces because it absorbs so well. You have to slice up this ciabatta bread and serve it with this artichoke dip, creamy cheese sauce, or my crab dip!

    Bread Ingredients Needed

One of the reasons I love making this ciabatta bread recipe is that it only takes four ingredients to make! It’s so convenient because it uses such simple baking ingredients. Most likely, you have all of the ingredients on hand too! Check out the recipe card below for exact measurements!

    • Active Dry Yeast: All you need is about half of a packet!
    • Warm Water: Make sure the water is about 90° Fahrenheit.
    • Bread Flour: Bread flour is key! It’s what gives the bread a nice chewy texture.
    • Salt: Salt is a must in bread!

    Ciabatta Bread Recipe

You are going to love learning how to make homemade ciabatta bread. There is something so rewarding when that warm loaf comes out of the oven! It’s pretty easy to make, you just have to allow it plenty of time to rise, and you’re all set.

    Prepare the Dough

    1. Combine Yeast, Water, Flour, and Salt: In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, add the yeast, water, 2 cups flour, and salt. Mix on low speed until everything is well incorporated. At this point, you may need to add more flour but only mix in ¼ cup at a time. It will be a very wet dough but still workable.
    2. Mix the Dough: Increase the speed to medium once everything is mixed well. Mix for an additional 3-4 minutes. This will help develop the gluten structure. As it proofs, and each time you give it a fold, the dough will strengthen and come together more.
    3. Place Dough in Bowl, Cover, and Proof: Remove the dough from the mixer and place it in a bowl coated with olive oil. Cover the dough and let it rise until doubled in size. This will take about 45 minutes to an hour. I always keep my hands oiled with olive oil while working with this ciabatta dough, as it is a sticky dough.

    Rise and Fold the Dough

    1. Fold the Dough: Once the ciabatta dough has doubled in size, fold the dough by stretching it out and folding it in on itself. You should degas the dough during this step. Oil the bowl again if needed.
    2. Cover, Proof, and Fold: Cover and let rest for another 30-40 minutes and perform a second fold on the dough.
    3. Cover, Rest, and Prepare Baking Sheet: Cover and allow the ciabatta dough to rise again but not quite double in size, rest for about 20-30 minutes. While the dough is resting, prepare a sheet pan by lining it with parchment paper and spreading a liberal amount of flour on it.
    4. Gently Place Dough on Prepared Sheet Pan: GENTLY remove dough from the bowl and place it on the lined sheet pan. Lightly spread it into an even rectangle being careful not to put any downward pressure on the loaf and force the air out.

    Rise and Bake the Bread

    1. Cover and Rise: Cover and allow the ciabatta loaf to rise again for another 30-45 minutes. Preheat oven to 420° Fahrenheit
    2. Dust with Flour and Bake: The loaf is ready to bake when it is raised and airy. Dust the top of the ciabatta loaf with flour, then bake for 15-25 minutes. The bread should be an even light golden color with some brown spotting.

    Tips and Ideas

Here are some important tips when making ciabatta bread. I also have some ideas on how to use your leftover bread! There are so many yummy ideas when it comes to ciabatta because it’s so versatile.

    • Bread Flour is a Must: Bread flour is what gives the bread its chewy texture. You can use all-purpose flour if you need it, but the texture won’t be as chewy.
    • Handle Dough With Care: This loaf should have a loose, open crumb. It’s important you don’t overhandle this dough when it’s in its final form.
    • Cool Before Cutting: Allow the ciabatta loaf to cool before cutting.
    • Make Ciabatta Rolls: This dough is great for making ciabatta rolls. Once the loaf has been made into a rectangle on the floured parchment, dip a pizza cutter into flour, then cut the loaf into 6 squares.
    • Other Uses: Use up any leftover ciabatta by making it into garlic bread. It’s also great for sandwiches and croutons.

How to Store and Freeze Leftovers

Ciabatta bread is awesome to use throughout the week for sandwiches. I love having a fresh loaf to make my lunches. This bread also freezes perfectly! It thaws and tastes just as fresh as it does from the oven.

    • On the Counter: Leftover ciabatta bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Store on the counter at room temperature.
    • In the Freezer: Ciabatta freezes perfectly! Wrap leftover bread tightly in foil and seal it in a sealable plastic bag. Freeze for up to 3 months. You can either slice it before you freeze it, or freeze it whole and slice it when it’s thawed.

    Ingredients

    • 1 ½ tablespoons active dry yeast, about half a packet
    • 1 ½ cups warm water, about 90° Fahrenheit
    • 2-3 cups bread flour
    • 1 ½ teaspoons salt

    Instructions

    Prepare the Dough

    • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook add yeast, water, 2 cups flour, salt and mix on low speed until everything is well incorporated. At this point you may need to add more flour, only mix in ¼ cup at a time. This should be a fairly wet dough, but workable.
    • Once everything is well mixed, increase speed to medium and mix for an additional 3-4 minutes. This will help develop the gluten structure. Again, this dough is fairly wet, but as it proofs and each time you give it a fold, the dough will strengthen and come together more.
    • Remove dough from mixer and place in a bowl coated in olive oil, cover and let it sit until it’s doubled in size, about 45 minutes to an hour. I always keep my hands oiled with olive oil while working with this dough, as it is a sticky dough.

    Rise and Fold the Dough

    • Once the dough has doubled in size, fold the dough by stretching it out and folding it in on itself. You should degas the dough during this step. Oil the bowl again if needed.
    • Cover and let rest for another 30-40 minutes and preform a second fold on the dough.
    • Cover and allow the dough to rise again but not quite double in size, rest about 20-30 minutes. While the dough is resting, prepare a sheet pan by lining it with parchment paper and spreading a liberal amount of flour on it.
    • GENTLY remove dough from the bowl and place it on the lined sheet pan. Lightly spread it into an even rectangle being careful not to put any downward pressure on the loaf and force the air out.

    Rise and Bake the Bread

    • Cover and allow the ciabatta to rise again for another 30-45 minutes. Preheat oven to 420° Fahrenheit
    • Once the loaf is ready it should be raised and airy, dust the top of the loaf with flour and bake for 15-25 minutes. The bread should be an even light golden color with some brown spotting.

  • Football Charcuterie Board

    Football Charcuterie Board

This football charcuterie board is perfect for any of your game day or tailgate parties! It’s packed with all of the perfect finger food that everyone will love and you will be making this over and over during football season!

Appetizers like this charcuterie board are a must during football season! If you want to try a few more of my favorites to have on hand or bring to these parties, then start with these Thai Glazed Chicken Wings, this delicious (and easy!) 5 Minute Million Dollar Dip or these Jalapeño Poppers with Bacon!

    Easy Football Charcuterie Board

If you are hosting a watch party, going to a Super Bowl party, or just watching the game from the comfort of your own home, you know that food is a MUST. After all… that’s why I attend such parties. Not because of the games but because of the FOOD! This football charcuterie board not only has all of the delicious snacks that your guests will love, but it looks good.

My favorite part, and what is the star of this board, is the cheese ball that is shaped like a football. It stands out and is so easy to make. I love charcuterie boards because you can easily change things up to fit the needs of your crowd or occasion. Add more veggies, fruit, chips, and wings… Whatever it is that you like to make this football charcuterie exactly what you imagine it to be!

    The Recipe Critic Recommendation

    Large Rectangle Charcuterie Board

17x 12 Inch Wood Serving Board

This cutting board is the perfect complement when showcasing your charcuterie and cheese boards.

    Let’s Start with the Football!

This football charcuterie board is only football-themed because of the cheeseball! It creates the perfect focal point on this board, and your guests will love it. You can use a store-bought cheese ball or make one from scratch. Cheese balls are a must on a casual board like this one because they go with all of the ingredients on the board!

You can use any cheeseball that you like for this football, but I love using this Beef Chip Cheese Ball or this Bacon Ranch Cheese Ball. Once it is shaped it into a football, you cover it with some slices of pepperoni. Then, you can slice up some mozzarella to get that look of the football laces!

    Time to Add the Dips!

With this football charcuterie board (or any charcuterie board) the dips are SO important! They not only add something visually interesting to look at because they are in bowls, but they are different colors and textures. Plus, you need dip for your veggies (don’t worry, those come next!)

I used hummus and ranch dip on this board to keep things simple. They go with every vegetable, chip, and cracker out there, and they are universally loved by all! If you wanted to expand, you could try adding in some tortilla chips with some bean dip, maybe a delicious Spinach Dip! Change things up to fit your needs. That’s the best part about this football charcuterie board!

6 pictures showing how to make the football cheese ball and add the veggies, chips and cheese to the board.

    Next Comes the Veggies

I love adding veggies onto this football charcuterie board not only because they are healthy and add some beautiful color but because they are perfect for dipping! They go with just about any dip and keep the board looking fresh. Since my board was smaller, I kept my veggies to a minimum, but I think the veggies are always a great spot to expand and add additional ones to the board.

    • Carrot Sticks
    • Sliced Cucumber
    • Celery

I kept things simple on this board with some classic veggies. But if you wanted to make your board larger or didn’t have these vegetables on hand, then you could use broccoli, cauliflower, snap peas, peppers, or any other raw veggie that adds color and tastes delicious!

A closeup of the football shaped cheeseball.

Lastly… Add the Bread, Meat, and Cheese!

This part of the board is my favorite because I love that these go with everything on this football charcuterie board! Dip the chips in the ranch, and eat the cheese ball with some bread or crackers. Stack the cheese on the meat to make a mini sandwich! You can’t have a charcuterie board without these three items!

    • Stone Bread
    • Crostini Bread
    • Triscuit Triangles
    • Ruffles Chips
    • Pretzels
    • Cheddar Cheese
    • Salami

Again, just like all of the other ingredients on the board, you can take these suggestions and make them just like mine, or you can change them up. I like the bread and crackers that I chose because they are all very different in taste and texture. I chose to use cheddar cheese and salami because those are commonly loved by all! But feel free to add in some more meats, such as Prosciutto. Or add in some additional cheeses like Colby jack, manchego, or gruyere.

Let’s Put this Football Charcuterie Board Together!

Knowing how to arrange everything on this football charcuterie board is really the part that takes it over the top. Follow these instructions, and the order in which you put things on and your board will turn out spectacular!

    1. Shape the cheese ball into a football on the board. Top with pepperoni and cut the parmesan cheese to look like the stitching of a football.
    2. Place the dips on the board. Then, add the veggies and cheese. Lastly, fill the board with bread, chips, pretzels, and crackers.

    • Grands Biscuits: I love working with Grands biscuits! They’re so versatile! I just used the regular kind here, not the flaky layers.
    • Butter: Adds flavor and helps your pull-apart bread turn out perfectly golden brown!
    • Garlic: I always like to go for fresh minced garlic with these rolls, but garlic powder will work too if you don’t have any on hand.
    • Parmesan Cheese: I love adding grated parmesan because it gives the tops of the rolls that delicious baked cheese effect. The flavor pairs perfectly with garlic, too!
    • Italian Seasoning: You can’t go wrong by adding some savory herbs! Use prepackaged Italian seasoning or make your own blend. You can find my full recipe here!
