    Vegetarian Fried Avocado Tacos Recipe

Fried avocados have become a new obsession of mine. They’re everything you could want from a snack- crispy, creamy, and flavorful! They’re great on their own but (in my opinion) even better when you add them to tacos. Fried avocados are a great meat substitute making this recipe great for vegetarian diets! Even the carnivores in your family will appreciate these delicious tacos. They’re just too good to resist.

I also added chopped veggies, cotija cheese, and an AMAZING cilantro lime dressing to my fried avocado tacos. You can mix and match toppings to your liking, but I think this combo takes the flavor of these tacos to the next level! No need to go to that high-end taco restaurant when you can make these bad boys at home! They have the most crave-worthy flavor and texture. I’m sure they’ll become a new favorite of yours just like they have for me!

Ingredients You’ll Need for Fried Avocado Tacos

This recipe uses a lot of pantry staples which makes preparing these tacos a breeze. Feel free to customize these with all of your favorite toppings! See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for measurements.

    • Cooking Oil: You’ll need this for frying your avocados in. I used vegetable oil!
    • Avocados: Look for avocados that are slightly firm so that they hold up through the breading process.
    • Eggs: Help the delicious breading stick.
    • Flour: Helps add to the crispiness of the breading. All-purpose flour works just fine!
    • Panko: Gives your fried avocado their perfect crunch.
    • Seasonings: I added a mix of Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt to the breading mixture. You can add in a pinch of cayenne or paprika, too, if you want a bit of heat.
    • Flour Tortillas: Use your favorite brand or make them from scratch for the freshest flavor! You can find my homemade tortilla recipe here.
    • Optional Toppings: I used sliced red onion, red cabbage, cilantro, and cotija cheese.
    • Cilantro Lime Dressing: A creamy dressing with zesty flavor to drizzle on top! This is what makes these tacos so great!

How to Make Fried Avocado Tacos

Although you need to deep-fry your avocado wedges, it’s actually really simple! You’ll have golden, delicious avocado fries ready to go in no time. (Psst- if you want to bake your avocado wedges instead of frying them, I have a recipe for that here!)

    1. Prepare Oil for Frying: In a deep skillet add about 1 inch of vegetable oil and heat to 350 degrees.
    2. Prepare Avocado Slices: Slice the avocados in half lengthwise and then cut into wedges. In a shallow bowl add the eggs, then, in another bowl add the flour, and the last bowl, add the panko, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt.
    3. Coat in Panko: Dip the avocado into the flour, then egg, and lastly in the panko.
    4. Deep-Fry: Add about 4-6 strips to the hot oil and fry for about 2 minutes until they are golden brown. Then, remove them and place on a paper towel-lined plate.
    5. Assemble Tacos: Assemble your tacos by laying a flour tortilla on a flat surface. Add the fried avocado and favorite toppings and drizzle with cilantro lime dressing.

    Tips and Variations

Tacos are such a great thing to make for crowds because people can customize them however they want! Here are a few more topping ideas and ways to make the best fried avocado tacos possible!

    • Use Firm Avocados: This is a recipe that’s perfect for using avocados that aren’t quite ripe yet. You want any avocados you use to be firm so that they don’t fall apart as your bread them.
    • Make Homemade Tortillas: It’s no secret that making your tortillas from scratch is the best way to level up homemade tacos. You can find my recipe here! It’s super easy and you only need a handful of simple ingredients to whip some up! For a gluten-free version, try making these homemade corn tortillas!
    • More Toppings: Try adding pinto beans, refried beans, black beans, cilantro rice, fajita veggies, chickpeas, or salsa to your tacos!

    Storing Leftovers

These fried avocado tacos make great leftovers as long as you store the fixings and dressing separately.

    • Storing Leftover Fried Avocado: Store your leftover fried avocado wedges in the fridge in an airtight container. They will last for 1-2 days. To reheat them, pop them in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Variations

Everyone enjoys a meal served in a bowl because they can make it their own. Guests can mix and match ingredients how they like. Here are a few ideas to help you think outside the box and be creative with your ingredient options.

    Amazing Homemade Chicken Souvlaki

Souvlaki is a popular Greek street food consisting of chicken, beef, or lamb that is grilled and skewered. (Souvlaki translates to ‘small skewer!’) Today we’re making chicken souvlaki- tender pieces of chicken marinated with garlic and herbs and grilled to perfection! Chicken souvlaki is a summer staple and you’re going to love having them around to munch on! This has been a favorite at my family’s summer barbecues and I can’t wait for you to try them!

Perfect for all of you busy moms out there, these skewers are super easy to make! You only need a handful of simple ingredients to make them! They turn out so juicy and amazing every time, this recipe is foolproof. You can eat your chicken on a skewer or serve it on naan or pita bread! It’s delicious both ways! No matter how you choose to enjoy your souvlaki, I promise it’s going to be a hit at your next get-together.

    Ingredients You’ll Need

No fancy ingredient list here! These delicious chicken skewers come together easily with pantry staples. Measurements for each ingredient can be found below in the recipe card.

    • Boneless Chicken Breasts: You’ll want these to be cut into 1-inch chunks.
    • Garlic: Minced garlic adds the best savory flavor to these skewers!
    • Olive Oil: Helps all of the delicious seasonings coat the chicken perfectly. I used extra-virgin olive oil!
    • Lemon Juice: Fresh is best!
    • Greek Seasoning: This is a blend of simple herbs that you probably already have in your pantry. Find my full recipe for Greek seasoning here!

    How to Make Chicken Souvlaki

This recipe does need plenty of time to marinate, but it cooks up in minutes! I like to let my chicken marinate overnight so it’s ready to go the next day (and also packed with flavor!)

    1. Chicken Marinade: For the marinade, combine the olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and Greek seasoning in a small bowl. Whisk marinade ingredients together to combine.
    2. Marinate: Place the chicken and marinade in a sealable plastic bag and shake to ensure the marinade is covering the chicken. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
    3. Add to Skewers: Thread chicken onto skewers and throw away the remaining marinade. Grill on an outdoor grill or grill pan for about 5 minutes on each side. Grill until thoroughly cooked to 165° Farhenheit. Serve warm!
    4. Serve: Serve chicken souvlaki with a side of tzatziki sauce for dipping, with a delicious Greek salad, or as the meat in a gyro.
4-photo collage of chicken skewers being assembled and marinated.

    Tips for Chicken Souvlaki

Here are a few extra ways to perfect your chicken souvlaki! You’re going to want them at every family barbecue.

    • Prep Skewers:  If you don’t have metal skewers, wooden skewers work as well! Soaking the wooden skewers helps to prevent the wood from getting charred and black. Place them in a large baking dish or roasting pan and cover them with water by at least ½ inch. Soak the skewers for about an hour. Make sure to dry them off before skewering on the meat.
    • Use a Meat Thermometer: The best way to make sure you don’t overcook your chicken is by checking the internal temperature. Once internal temperatures reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit, take your chicken off the grill. If you cook it any more than that, it may become dry.
    • Let Your Chicken Rest: The key to juicy chicken is to let it sit for a few minutes after you remove it from the grill. This allows all of the delicious juices to reabsorb.

    Closeup of 4 chicken skewers.

    Storing Leftovers

You can store your leftover chicken souvlaki for up to 4 days in an airtight container in the fridge. When you reheat it, make sure internal temperatures reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit before serving. This chicken is great for eating as-is, serving over rice, or adding to salads or wraps!

    • For the marinade, combine the olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and Greek seasoning in a small bowl. Whisk together to combine.

It’s all about the marinade! Greek chicken kabobs get the intense flavor from the delicious marinade. I’m a big believer in marinating my meat before it goes on the grill. Try these tried and true fan favorite marinades for steakchicken, and Asian-inspired meat.

Overhead photo of Greek chicken kabobs on a large white round platter. Sliced pita bread, sliced cucumbers, diced tomatoes, and kalamata olives served on the side. Sliced lemon garnished on the side with a small bowl of tzatziki sauce.

    Greek Chicken Kabob Recipe

I love making kabobs for the grill because not only are they so delicious, but they are so easy to make. Plus, everyone can put what they want on them, so they work even for the pickiest of eaters! The marinade for these Greek chicken kabobs perfectly tenderizes and seasons the chicken for maximum flavor! Greek chicken kabobs really come together when you add in the veggies and grill them to perfection!

I love a good kabob because it makes dinner time so easy. Having all the dinner ingredients on one skewer also makes the eating part fun! My kids get so excited when I make these steak kabobs, but my husband really loves my shrimp kabobs. Don’t worry, though! If you are a vegetarian, then my veggie kabobs are perfect for you! In fact, I love cooking up grilled vegetables for just about any side dish.

Ingredients Needed For Greek Chicken Kabobs

Greek chicken kabobs are the best because all of the ingredients are grilled on the skewer together. So what you see is what you get! The exact measurements for the ingredients can be found on the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

    • Olive Oil: Olive oil adds moisture to the chicken and is a great base for the marinade.
    • Red Wine Vinegar: This adds a tangy flavor.
    • Dried Oregano: This classic seasoning is essential in Greek-inspired food.
    • Garlic: Fresh minced garlic is always a must, but you can use minced garlic from a jar if that’s what you have on hand!
    • Salt: Salt helps bring out the flavors and seasons of the chicken.
    • Black Pepper: Pepper is a great marinade seasoning.
    • Lemon: Freshly squeezed lemon juice adds brightness to all the flavors.
    • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts: Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces so the chicken cooks evenly.
    • Red Pepper: Red bell pepper is great for grilling!
    • Zucchini: I love zucchini in these kabobs! It’s tender, delicious, and adds in some pretty color.
    • Red Onion: The onion complements all of the flavors so well.
    • Skewers: I like to use metal skewers, but feel free to use wooden skewers. Soak wooden skewers for 20 minutes to avoid burning.
    • Tzatziki Sauce Recipe: My tzatziki sauce is perfect with these Greek chicken kabobs! Store-bought works great too.
    • Pita Bread: Sliced pita bread on the side is optional, but my kids love it!

    Let’s Make some Kabobs!

Prepping the ingredients ahead of time for these Greek chicken kabobs makes assembly a breeze. I like to marinate the chicken first thing in the morning, and then I quickly chop the veggies right before threading the skewers. It makes for a quick and easy weeknight meal!

    1. Make the marinade: In a medium-sized bowl, add the olive oil, red wine vinegar, oregano, garlic, salt, pepper, and juice from one lemon.
    2. Marinate the chicken: Add the chicken cubes to the bowl and then let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
    3. Preheat: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
    4. Skewer the Chicken and Veggies: Thread the chicken, zucchini, peppers, and onions onto the skewers.
    5. Grill Kabobs: Grill on each side for 3-4 minutes or until it is no longer pink.
    6. Serve: Serve with pitas on the side and tzatziki sauce for dipping.

What to Serve With Greek Chicken Kabobs

I love the combination of protein and vegetables in this meal! However, if you are looking to serve these kabobs with other delicious sides, here are a few ideas.

    • Grains: Orzo pasta or lemon rice are my favorite grains with Greek chicken kabobs.
    • Fruit: Round out this whole meal by adding a side of fruit because…YUM!
    • Salad: Keep with the theme and serve a greek salad with your kabobs! When I like to keep the meal gluten-free, I just remove the chicken pieces and veggies from the skewers and place them right on the salad.
    • Hummus: Serve hummus on the side just like the Greeks do because it is a delicious dip full of texture and flavor.

Close up photo of Greek chicken kabobs on a large white round platter. Sliced pita bread, sliced cucumbers, diced tomatoes, and kalamata olives served on the side. Sliced lemon garnished on the side with a small bowl of tzatziki sauce. A hand is holding up one of the kabobs.

    Storing Leftovers

My favorite way to store leftovers is by removing the grilled chicken and veggies from the skewers and placing them in the fridge. It makes rewarming the kabobs easy and lunches the next day even more convenient!

    • In the Refrigerator: Store cooked kabobs in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 5 days.
    • To Reheat: Remove the chicken and veggies from the skewers and place them in the microwave for about 2 minutes on high or until warmed through.

    • In a medium-sized bowl add the olive oil, red wine vinegar, oregano, garlic, salt, pepper, and juice from one lemon.

    • Add the chicken cubes to the bowl and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

    • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

    • Thread the chicken, zucchini, peppers, and onions onto the skewers.

    The Best Foil Pack Meals

This website may contain affiliate links and advertising so that we can provide recipes to you. Read my privacy policy.

These foil pack meals are the BEST for camping and backyard cooking! Packed with protein, vegetables, and a whole lot of flavor, there is a foil pack for everyone to love!

My favorite part about foil pack meals is that there are SO many different ones to try, and you come out with a different flavor and texture every time! Try out this herb salmon, this barbecue chicken, and these perfectly cooked potatoes!

A collage of 6 pictures of foil meals and the tet" The best foil pack meals" in the center of the collage.

    What are Foil Pack Meals?

I can’t get enough foil pack meals during the summertime. They come out tasting so good because all of the flavors blend together in the foil. If you have never heard of a foil pack meal, then you are in for a treat! Foil pack meals are simply just protein and vegetables that are steamed together in foil. It’s one of our favorite ways to cook meals in the summer!

My kids love putting these together because they get to choose what they put in them and then help wrap the foil up and wait for them to cook on the grill. We also prepare these ahead of time and bring them camping with us and cook them over the fire. It’s so much fun, and they make such hearty meals. And cleanup doesn’t get much easier than this! No plates or dishes to worry about at all!

Can You Cook These Recipes without a Grill?

Yes! If you don’t have a grill, then your foil pack meal can totally be cooked in your oven! We like these so much that when our grill isn’t accessible during the winter months, we can still make them inside!

    • In the Oven: Follow the recipe directions on assembling the foil pack. Then, place them on a baking sheet. If your recipe says to cook your foil packs on a grill on medium heat, then you can cook your foil pack in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook it for about 1.5 times what the recipe calls for. So if the recipe says to cook it on the grill for 10 minutes, cook it in the oven for 25 minutes. Always check the temperature of your meat using a meat thermometer.

Delicious Grilled Chicken Tenders With Honey Lime Sauce

With grilling season in full force, here’s a new recipe for you to try that the whole family will love! These grilled chicken tenders are a barbecue hit. They’re juicy, tender, packed with sweet and zesty flavor in each bite, and most importantly – insanely easy to make. Did I mention you only need 4 ingredients to throw them together?

The flavor of these grilled chicken tenders is incredible. It’s the perfect combination of sweet, zesty, and savory! Then, once you get that smoky char on the outside, these babies are absolutely to die for. They’re a hit with even the picky eaters in my family. I’ve caught my youngest licking the sauce off of her plate on a few occasions. With how tasty these chicken tenders are, I don’t blame you if you want to do the same! Let’s get grilling!

    Ingredients You’ll Need

You won’t believe the amazing flavor you get from just 4 simple ingredients! Short and sweet is best! You can find measurements for each ingredient in the recipe card at the end of the post.

    • ItalianDressing: Italian dressing adds the best flavor to these chicken tenders!
    • Honey: Gives your marinade a thick texture and tasty sweetness.
    • Lime Juice: Adds a pop of zesty flavor.
    • Chicken Tenders: These can also be sold as ‘chicken tenderloins.’ You’ll want them to be uncooked and ready to marinate. If you can’t find packaged chicken tenders, you can also use boneless chicken breasts and cut them lengthwise, so they’re a similar shape.

How to Make Grilled Chicken Tenders

Even if you’re new to grilling, these chicken tenders with honey lime sauce are something you can make with flying colors! You’ll need a little bit of time to let them marinate, but they cook up in just a few minutes! It’s the perfect quick and easy summer meal.

    1. Prepare Chicken Marinade: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the Italian dressing, honey, and lime juice.
    2. Marinate: Add the chicken tenders and marinate for 30 minutes.
    3. Preheat: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Add the chicken tenders.
    4. Grill: Cook for 3-4 minutes and then flip and cook until 165 degrees and no longer pink.

Serving Suggestions and Tips for Grilling Chicken

Here are a few simple ways to make yourself the master of the grill! Once your friends and family get a bite of your grilled chicken tenders, they’ll be hooked. It’s hard not to be when they’re so juicy and flavorful.

    • Use a Thermometer: This step is super important so that your chicken doesn’t dry out on the grill. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of your chicken tenders. You can take them off the grill when the internal temperatures reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit. If you cook them any more than that, they may dry out.
    • Let Rest: The key to juicy grilled chicken is letting it rest for a minute or two after you pull it off the grill. This allows all of the tasty juices to reabsorb, giving you chicken tenders that will melt in your mouth! If you cut into them too soon after grilling, those juices may be released instead of absorbing back into the meat.
    • Serve With: These grilled chicken tenders are tasty on their own but great for serving over rice and adding to green salads, too! I always chop up my leftovers and add them to salads like this cilantro lime chicken salad and chili lime chicken salad. The flavor of the chicken complements them perfectly! The size of these tenders is also perfect for adding to grilled kebabs alongside tasty veggies.

    Storing Leftovers

These grilled chicken tenders are the best for leftovers. You can use them for a quick lunch for the kids or slice them up for salads and burrito bowls!

    • In the Refrigerator: Store leftover grilled chicken tenders in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Grilled Asian Garlic Steak Skewers are marinated in a delicious Asian garlic sesame sauce and grilled to tender and juicy perfection.  Perfect for any BBQ or gathering!

Great grill meals for outdoor entertaining are a must at my house.  When I am in the mood for steak with delicious Asian flavors, I also love Grilled Flank Steak with Asian Marinade because it is unbelievably good!

    A Reader’s Review

    Excellent! Juicy and perfectly seasoned!

    -Chloe

    Grilled Asian Garlic Steak Skewers

Ok, ok I admit that I have a bit of an obsession with Asian foods. But this recipe was FANTASTIC! Anything that involves soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil is an instant favorite in my book. This recipe was simple to put together and the flavor is out of this world good.

I am pretty picky when it comes to steak. It has to be tender and melt in your mouth. I just can’t do the tough and chewy but it takes cooking the steak just right. Also buying a high-quality steak helps too you just can’t overcook it. Tenderloin can be a little expensive but it will get the best results. A chuck roast is a little less expensive but can tend to be a little tough and chewy I have found. A sirloin tip is a good balance between the two and will deliver amazing results and a great kabab.

What do I need to Make Garlic Steak Skewers?

    • Top sirloin steak: Lean and fits into a balanced diet, and it’s budget friendly.  (If you have room in your budget, filet is a great option as well!)
    • Red onion: Mild flavor and great color!
    • Soy sauce: It brings out meat’s natural flavors and also tenderizes it.
    • Garlic cloves: minced
    • Sesame oil: Nutty and toasty flavor in the marinade.
    • Olive Oil: Mix together with sesame oil and soy sauce for marinade.
    • Sugar: Adds sweetness
    • Grated ginger: Keep ginger root in your freezer and grate some whenever you need it.
    • Sesame seeds: Sesame flavor combined with the ginger is trademark Asian flavor!
    • Bell Peppers: I love using yellow green and orange because of their taste and color!
    • Green onions: For garnish
    • Skewers: If using wooden, soak 30 minutes ahead of time in water.

How to Make Asian Garlic Steak Skewers:

    1. Cut steak: Cut steak into one inch cubes. Cut the red onion into large chunks and set aside.
    2. Wisk sauce: In a large bowl whisk together soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, vegetable oil, sugar, ginger and sesame seeds. Add the steak and toss to coat in marinade. Marinate for 3 hours or overnight.
    3. Make Skewers: Preheat the grill to medium high heat while you thread the meat and the red onion onto the skewers.
    4. Grill: Cook for 8-10 minutes until the meat is done to desired liking.
4 pictures showing how to marinate the steak, cut up the veggies and cook them on the skewers.

How do you cook with wooden skewers?

While the meat for your grilled Asian steak skewers is marinating, soak the wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.  The temperature of the water does not matter.  If you find yourself using skewers in your cooking a lot, then I would suggest pre-soaking the skewers.  Soak a bunch of them overnight, drain, wrap in plastic, and freeze. Then you will have some ready whenever you need them.

A closeup of cooked Asian garlic steak skewers.

What temperature do you grill kabobs?

On a grill: Cook your kabob directly over the flame or coals.  Keep the lid open since you are cooking on direct heat.  Grill on medium-high heat (about 375 degrees) for 8-10 minutes.  Rotate approximately every 2-3 minutes until all sides are browned.

In the oven: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.  A higher temperature is necessary since the kabob will not be on direct heat.

    • In a large bowl whisk together soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, olive oil, sugar, ginger and sesame seeds. Add the steak and toss to coat in marinade. Marinate for 3 hours or overnight.
    • Preheat the grill to medium high heat. Thread the meat, red onion, and bell pepper onto the skewers. Grill for 8-10 minutes until the meat is done to desired liking.

    Ingredients to Make Chili:

This is an ultimate chili recipe with loads of flavor and an easy to make recipe. In 30 minutes this chili will be ready to feed a crowd!

    • Olive Oil: This is used to sauté the onion, bell pepper, cloves creating a flavor.
    • Onion: Dice up the onion the best you can without too many tears.
    • Green Bell Pepper: Cut into small chunks depending on your preference.
    • Garlic Cloves: I prefer fresh cloves but you are welcome to use the jarred minced garlic for substitute.
    • Ground Beef: Lean ground beef gives flavor but also less fat and grease.
    • Beef Broth: Adds in flavor and liquid while cooking.
    • Tomato: Sauce and diced tomatoes come in a can for a quick dump in the pot.
    • Beans: Pinto and kidney bean give a good mixture of tender and soft beans.
    • Seasonings: Chili powder, oregano, cumin, coriander, salt and cayenne mixes together giving the chili a sweet, spicy and savory flavoring.

How to Make Good Homemade Chili:

Dump and go recipe that uses only one pot! It is perfect for a quick meal during a busy week or let simmer on a weekend when feeding a crowd. Bring this chili to any potluck or gathering and watch it disappear in no time.

    1. Sauté and Cook Beef: In a large pot add the olive oil over medium high heat. Add the onion, bell pepper and garlic and sauté until almost tender. Brown the ground beef and cook and crumble until brown.
    2. Add in Remaining Ingredients: Add in the beef broth, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, pinto beans, kidney beans, chili powder, oregano, cumin, coriander, salt and cayenne.
    3. Boil: Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer until it starts to thicken and flavors combine about 30 minutes.
The process of making chili by sautéing the onions and green peppers, cooking the ground beef and adding the beans, tomatoes and seasonings into the pot to simmer.

    Variations

So many fun ways to make this chili thicker, spicier or even adding in cocoa powder! That is a delicious treat in your chili. Change up some of the ingredients and you may end up with a white chicken chili which is also another popular chili our family loves. Try these variations to see what you come up with!

    • Vegetables: Potatoes, carrots, celery, mushrooms or zucchini are all great add ins for sautéing at the beginning.
    • Meat: Substitute the beef for turkey, steak, Italian sausage or chicken.
    • Seasonings: Try using taco seasoning for a tex-tex taste.
    • Smokey Taste: Adobe sauce oor paprika or a liquid smoke for a smoky taste.
    • Beef Broth: Don’t have beef broth? Chicken or even water will help keep it thick and will simmer well with either liquid.
    • Sugar: Sounds crazy, right! Sugar adds a bit of sweetness. Cocoa powder will also add subtle hint of sweetness with a savory taste of chocolate. It is a must try! Just a teaspoon will do the trick!

Chili in a bowl with lime wedge, sour cream, Frito chips and shredded cheese.

    Toppings

Go wild and add all the toppings you love to make this chili even better! From a sweet avocado, creamy sour cream, or a crunchy chip is just what this chili needs. All the favorites blend together so well with this chili recipe.

Here are some of our families staple toppings to try:

    • Sour Cream: Add a dollop over top.
    • Onions: Chopped up and sprinkled on top.
    • Shredded Cheese: This will melt over top the chili
    • Jalapeños: Spicy deliciousness
    • Cilantro: Looks good and adds a great flavoring
    • Avocado: Sliced and add in
    • Tortilla Strips: A crunchy bite
    • Frito Chips: Pile them on!
    • Lime Wedges: Squeeze over top

Chili in a large pot with a ladle spooning out a spoonful of chili for the camera.

    Storing Chili Properly

Refrigerate: It is best to keep the chili in an airtight container or ziplock bag in the refrigerator once cooled after cooking. Store in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days long. Warming it up in a saucepan or microwave.
Can you freeze chili? Yes! It is another perk about this recipe. Once it is cooled completely add it to a large ziplock bag letting out of all the air. Laying flat, place the chili in the freezer for 1 month long.
Warming up: When ready to reheat, thaw overnight in the refrigerator and heat in a saucepan or microwave until warmed through.

    Irish Guinness Beef Stew Recipe

Just in time for St. Patrick’s day, here’s an amazing dish for you to try! This classic Irish meal has a lot of variations, but here’s mine! It’s traditionally made with lamb, but today I’m using tender pieces of chuck roast! The beef is simmered to perfection in a hearty beef broth, with, of course, Guinness beer added for a rich, deep flavor. I absolutely love how this came together! My family couldn’t get enough!

The beef is SO soft and flavorful. It just falls apart in your mouth. Paired with tender carrots and potatoes, you can’t go wrong! It’s the perfect dish to make on cool nights while we transition to spring. You can serve it as-is or over mashed potatoes to complete the meal. Everything You’ll Need to Make It

Step one is to gather everything you need together! I know it may look like a lot of ingredients, but trust me, you probably already have a lot of them in your pantry! You’re going to love the flavor that each of these ingredients creates. Guinness beef stew is the best! Measurements for all of the ingredients below can be found in the recipe card at the end of the post.

    • Olive Oil: Used to sear the beef and saute vegetables.
    • Boneless Chuck Roast: I love using chuck roast because it’s hearty and gets so incredibly tender and flaky when simmered in broth. You can swap this out for lamb if you’re wanting a more traditional version of Guinness stew!
    • Kosher Salt and Cracked Black Pepper: Works as your foundation of seasonings.

    Stew Base

    • Yellow Onion: Yellow onion adds a hint of sharp flavor throughout your Guinness stew.
    • Minced Garlic: Minced garlic is a must to add savory flavor.
    • Large Carrots: I like using large carrots to create bigger chunks. The heartier the better!
    • Yukon Potatoes: Yukon potatoes are soft and buttery when cooked in broth. You’ll love them!
    • Flour: Added to thicken up your broth.
    • Beef Broth: This is the base of your stew broth.
    • Guinness Beer: The star of the show! This Irish beer has a strong, deep flavor that really makes the stew shine.
    • Tomato Paste: Adds thickness and a caramelized flavor.
    • Worcestershire Sauce: I love adding Worcestershire sauce because it’s sweet, savory, with a bit of tang!
    • Italian Seasoning: You can buy storebought Italian seasoning, but I love making it at home to customize my blend! Find my full recipe here. Nothing like fresh herbs to enhance a stew!
    • Bay Leaves: Adds an aromatic flavor.
    • Kosher Salt and Pepper: Add both to taste!
    • Fresh Parsley: The perfect aromatic garnish.

How to Make Irish Guinness Stew

The key to making the best Guinness stew is fresh ingredients and cooking low and slow. Follow these simple instructions and you’ll have a hearty stew that the whole family will love!

    1. Prepare Beef: First, prepare the beef by cutting it into 1 1/2-inch chunks. Pat the meat dry with a paper towel. Generously salt and pepper the beef
    2. Sear: Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large stock pot over medium high heat. Add the beef to the pot and sear on each side for about 3 minutes. There is no need to cook it through, just give it a nice golden sear. Remove the meat from the pot and set aside.
    3. Sauté Vegetables: In the same pot, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the diced onion and sauté for 5 minutes until translucent and golden. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, until a paste forms. If the paste is too dry, you can drizzle in more olive oil if needed.
    4. Add Remaining Ingredients: Pour in the Guinness and use a whisk to scrape the brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Stir in the beef stock, carrots, potatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, and bay leaves.
    5. Simmer: Add in the cooked beef, cover the pot, and simmer on low for 1 ½ hours. Occasionally stir the stew, and cook until the beef is tender and the potatoes and carrots are soft.
    6. Season and Serve: Discard the bay leaves. Season with salt, pepper, and more Italian seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh parsley, and serve with crusty artisan bread!

Tips and Tricks for Making Your Stew

Here are a few tips and variations for making this Irish stew as tasty as possible! It’s definitely one of my favorites!

    • Balance Flavors: Some find the flavor of Guinness stew to be too bitter. If this is the case, add a tablespoon of brown sugar at a time until you’ve reached your desired flavor.
    • Don’t Skip Searing: Searing your beef before adding it to your stew is so important, don’t skip it! It helps to lock in flavors and add a tasty caramelized flavor.
    • Adding Other Vegetables: Throw in your favorite veggies here! In addition to carrots and potatoes, sometimes I’ll add in things like chopped celery, mushrooms, or peas.
    • Use a Slow Cooker: You can use a slow cooker to cook your Guinness beef stew. Simply throw all of your ingredients together and cook on low heat for 8 hours, or high for 6.
    • Serve With: I love serving my stew with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, and bread for dipping. Rolls, baguettes, and sourdough are all great options!

    Storing Leftover Guinness Stew

The great thing about stews is that they’re super easy to store and enjoy later! This Guinness beef stew tastes just as good, if not better, the next day!

    • In the Refrigerator: Store your stew in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
    • Reheating: If a thick layer has formed on top of your stew, discard it before reheating. I like to reheat my Guinness beef stew over the stove on medium heat until warmed through.
