    Slow Cooker Chicken Tortellini Soup

This slow cooker chicken tortellini soup is the best of the best! Who doesn’t love a soup that has veggies and cheesy noodles? It’s a fun and easy twist on the classic chicken noodle soup. I especially love this soup because you can make it in the crockpot! That means little to no prep time and lots of flavors. This soup simmers low and slow for 6 hours!

Not only is it easy to make, and you come home to your house smelling delicious, but you can use frozen tortellini, which then makes the process so much easier! This soup takes very little prep, and the reward of the finished dish is absolutely delicious. Serve it with some rolls and then a yummy salad. Your entire family will love it!

    Ingredients in Chicken Tortellini Soup

This chicken tortellini soup is comforting at its best! You won’t go wrong with this flavorful, SO DELICIOUS soup that will warm your soul. It is quick and easy to make with all the simple ingredients. Check out the recipe card at the bottom of the post for exact measurements.

    • Chicken Breast: I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts in this recipe.
    • Vegetables: Onions, carrots, and celery make this similar to a classic chicken noodle soup.
    • Garlic Cloves: You can use fresh garlic cloves or minced garlic from your fridge. ½ teaspoon equals about one clove of garlic.
    • Chicken Broth and Water: I used low-sodium chicken broth as the base of this soup.
    • Bay Leaves: The bay leaves add seasoning to the soup.
    • Italian Seasoning: You can buy this at the store or make it at home using this recipe.
    • Tortellini: You can use fresh or frozen tortellini! Just add a little bit of extra time if you are using frozen tortellini.
    • Fresh Parsley: This is a garnish that is optional.
    • Salt and Pepper: These will enhance the soup’s flavors.

    Let’s Make Some Soup!

This slow cooker chicken tortellini soup is super easy to make. Simply add all of the ingredients to the slow cooker except for the tortellini. I like to add that in about 15 minutes before serving, so they don’t get mushy!

    1. Add Ingredients: Add all of the ingredients to a slow cooker except for the tortellini.
    2. Cook: Cook on low for 6 hours.
    3. Shred chicken: Remove the cooked chicken from the slow cooker and then shred (or cube) and add back to the slow cooker.
    4. Add Tortellini: With 15 minutes left then you can add the tortellini to the soup.
    5. Season: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Discard bay leaves and then serve immediately with chopped parsley, if desired.

    Easy Tips

This chicken tortellini soup is one of my favorites! Here are more tips on how to make this the BEST slow cooker chicken tortellini soup recipe.

    • Cut Vegetables: It is best to cut the vegetables into larger sizes and all about the same width. This will ensure the vegetables cook throughout during the same time. Then, the larger veggies won’t become mushy while it cooks!
    • Fresh is Best: Fresh tortellini cooks quicker compared to frozen. If you are using frozen tortellini, then add a little more time to cook them longer in the slow cooker.
    • Creamier Broth: Half and half or whipping cream can make this a creamier base broth if you are looking for a creamy broth.
    • Leafy Greens: Looking for a healthier version with leafy greens?! Try adding kale or spinach to the soup.

Tips for Cooking with a Crockpot

Using a crockpot is easy but try out these tips and it will make cooking with one even easier! You may never go back to cooking on your stove again! This slow cooker angel chicken is the perfect place to start!

    • Keep the Lid ON: I know it’s tempting to want to take the lid off and check on your food! But a crockpot is designed to do its thing with the lid ON. Keep the lid on and don’t let out all of that heat that has been built up! Just look through the glass and trust your recipe!
    • Preheat Your Crockpot: A lot of people don’t do this and it really is a step that should always be taken. Turn your crockpot on to the correct setting about 20 minutes before you plan on putting your food in it. You can just turn it on while you prep your food!
    • Spray It: If you spray your slow cooker with cooking spray before you put your food in, then your cleanup will be so much easier! This helps so that your food doesn’t stick to the sides. Trust me, it’s an easy step that you will appreciate doing later!

    How to Store Leftovers

If you thought this slow cooker angel chicken tasted good on the first day, then wait until you try the leftovers. They are SOO GOOD and so perfect for lunch the next day. My kids fight over the leftovers!

    • In the Refrigerator: Once the angel chicken has cooled then you can place it in an airtight container in your fridge. It will last for up to 3 days.
    • To Reheat: Reheat leftover angel chicken in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until it is warmed through.

    • Potatoes: You can use russet potatoes, yellow golden or red potatoes for this soup. They hold together and don’t become mushy in the slow cooker.
    • Onion: Chopped up to your preference. I like them smaller so then I can have a little bit of that flavor in every bite!
    • Chicken Broth: Add in for a smooth, flavorful broth. You can also use vegetable broth or beef broth if that’s what you have on hand.
    • Butter: I used unsalted butter in this recipe.
    • Flour: All-purpose flour works the best for this soup. It is used to help thicken up the base of the soup.
    • Sour Cream: This adds a delightful flavoring that creates a rich and creamy broth.
    • Heavy Cream: If you would like a lighter soup, try half and half instead. You can make it from home using this simple recipe!
    • Salt and Pepper: Add these in to your liking to enhance all of the flavors in the soup!
    • Optional Toppings: Bacon, cheddar cheese, and green onions are really what take this from regular potato soup to baked potato soup!

    Additional Toppings

It is fun to add toppings to make soup just the perfect combination. Mix and match your favorite toppings to make the best and ultimate slow cooker loaded potato soup recipe.

    • Bacon bits: If you prefer to buy the bacon bits instead of cooking your bacon beforehand, you can! It’s a great way to simplify the recipe.
    • Shredded cheese: Instead of cheddar, you could try Colby Jack, American or even mozzarella!
    • Sour cream: Add an additional drop of sour cream to the top of your soup. It’s delicious!
    • Diced avocado: This is perfect for adding that extra texture and flavor.
    • Cooked Corn Kernels: Such a fun way of adding a southern twist to the soup.
    • Croutons: These add in a delicious crunchy texture. You can even make them at home with this recipe!
    • Chives: Green chives never looked so good on this creamy baked potato soup.

Tips for Loaded Baked Potato Soup

Check out a few ways that you can make substitutions in this soup to make it work better for you and your family.

    • For a creamy potato soup: Cook the potatoes ahead of time until they are tender. Once they are tender, blend or mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. Add to the slow cooker.
    • Mashing potatoes: Use a fork, blender or a potato masher to blend potatoes together.
    • Gluten Free: This loaded baked potato soup can be made gluten-free by substituting the flour mixture with cornstarch to thicken the soup.
    • Less salt: Substitute low-sodium chicken broth and bacon as a topping to help control the amount of salt in the soup.
    • Low Fat: Instead of using heavy cream you can substitute half and half for a low-fat option.
    • How to thicken soup: Using flour and butter to make a roux helps thicken the potato soup at the end of its cooking time. Simply add the roux to the ending of the soup and let cook for another 20 to 30 minutes to thicken.

Two bowls full of loaded baked potato with a spoon garnished with chopped bacon, cheese and green onions.

    Storing Leftovers

This loaded baked potato soup makes fantastic leftovers! You can even double the batch and freeze some for a later day!

    • In the Refrigerator: Once your soup has cooled, then you can store it in an airtight container and put it in the fridge. It will last about 3-4 days.
    • In the Freezer: You can make this soup ahead of time and freeze it for later! Once it has cooled, then you can place it in a ziplock bag and lay it flat. It will last for about 3 months!

All you need to do is break out your slow cooker, add some pork chops, potatoes, ranch seasoning, a can of cream of chicken soup, and then you’re free to run all of your daily errands while it cooks! This recipe is a family-favorite and one that my kids request all the time. I know it will be a hit with your family as well!

These slow cooker creamy ranch pork chops are just too good to resist. The pork is absolutely incredible. It just peels apart and melts in your mouth! And the sauce?! I could go on and on about this sauce. So simple but so flavorful! It coats the pork chops perfectly. My kids are a little ranch-obsessed so this sauce is their favorite! I always catch my youngest licking it off her plate. With flavor this good, you might just want to lick your plate too. Let’s get cooking!

    Ingredients You’ll Need

This recipe’s ingredients are as simple as it gets. It really only takes 4 ingredients to make, 5 if you count chopped parsley for garnish! I usually have all of these ingredients on hand which makes this one of my all-time favorite recipes for busy weeknights.

    • Pork Chops: I used thick boneless pork chops here! (Bone-in pork chops also work.) Because thick pork chops need more time to cook, using a slow cooker to make them is perfect! You get all of the tender, smoky goodness that thick pork chops have to offer with easy, hands-off preparation!
    • Potatoes: I went for medium-sized red potatoes, but you can use any kind of potato you want here, really. Yukon and baby gold potatoes are great options too!
    • Cream of Chicken Soup: You can use canned cream of chicken soup or make it from scratch if you’re feeling ambitious! (It actually only takes a couple minutes to mix up and has the BEST flavor!)
    • Dry Ranch Dressing Mix: Use your favorite packaged brand or make your own blend with my quick and easy recipe here!
    • Parsley: (Optional) This is sprinkled on top for a tasty, aromatic garnish.

How to Make Creamy Ranch Pork Chops in a Slow Cooker

There’s really nothing to it! This is one of those recipes where you add all of your ingredients straight to your crock pot and then end up with a masterpiece 6 hours later. Since it’s basically a meal in itself, serve as-is or with steamed asparagus or cauliflower steaks!

    1. Prep Slow Cooker: Spray your slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
    2. Add Veggies and Pork Chops: Layer the potatoes (and baby carrots if used) on the bottom of the slow cooker. Lay pork chops on the top.
    3. Mix Sauce Ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix together the soup and dry ranch packet. Pour on the top of the pork chops.
    4. Cook: Cook on low for 6-7 hours and high for 4 hours. Use extra sauce as a gravy over the top of the potatoes and pork chops and sprinkle with parsley if desired.

    Tips and Variations

Here are a few extra ways you can tweak the flavor and texture of this dish to your liking!

    • Adjust Consistency: The original recipe added ½ cup of milk but I have added it before and it was a little runny for my liking. Feel free to add in a little milk at a time if you are wanting a thinner sauce.
    • Making More Sauce: If you are doubling this recipe or wanting extra sauce to serve over things like mashed potatoes, I would suggest using 2 cans of cream of chicken and 2 packets of ranch.
    • Use Cream of Mushroom Soup: This recipe is great because you can swap out cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom! It will give your pork chops a slightly more hearty flavor but they’re still so creamy and delicious!
    • Add More Vegetables: In your next batch, try adding baby carrots, celery, or chopped onion!
    • Use Chicken Instead: You can make this recipe 1:1 by swapping out pork chops for boneless, skinless chicken breasts.

    Storing Leftovers

These crock pot ranch pork chops make the BEST leftovers. I like heating them up over the stove and serving them over rice or noodles for a hearty lunch!

    • In the Refrigerator: Store leftover pork chops and sauce in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Note: When reheating your sauce, adding a splash of milk or chicken broth can help thin it out.

Ingredients You Need for Crockpot Chili

You probably already have all of the ingredients on hand! Which makes it super easy to whip this up for dinner anytime. See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for exact measurements.

    • Ground beef: I like to use lean ground beef or even ground turkey for this recipe.
    • Olive oil: Just a little bit is fine to cook up the vegetables in.
    • Onion: An onion that is small and diced will work great for this.
    • Green bell pepper: Dice this up to all of the same size so that the pieces cook evenly.
    • Garlic cloves: If you dont have fresh cloves then you can use minced garlic. ½ tsp equals about one clove of garlic!
    • Beef broth: This is the base of the chili and is better than water because it adds a lot of flavor to the chili.
    • Tomato sauce: Make sure that you are getting tomato sauce and not tomato paste.
    • Diced tomatoes: These can come in flavored juices so make sure that you get the ones that are just in plain tomatoes sauce.
    • Pinto beans: I love the flavor of pinto beans!
    • Kidney beans: Dark or light kidney beans will work. Just use whatever you have on hand.
    • Chili powder, Oregano, Cumin, Coriander and Cayenne: These spices mixed together make such a delicious blend! Not too much heat but a lot of flavor!
